Postdoctoral Program

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics comprises a highly multidisplinary group of internationally recognized scientists working at the forefront of biomedical research. As a result, postgraduate training opportunities abound in a host of disciplines.  Our faculty members have a long and successful track record of training postgraduate fellows for biomedical research careers in both academia and the private sector.

The Department of Physiology & Biophysics currently hosts 10 postdoctoral trainees.  Trainees come to us from all over the world.  UC Irvine School of Medicine is an active community of diverse scholars dedicated to excellence in original research, teaching, creative expression and intellectual leadership.  In Physiology & Biophysics, our postdoctoral fellows have a strong track record of defining their own research paths, earning early career fellowships from the George E. Hewitt  Foundation for Medical Research, UC MEXUS-CONACYT and other foundations.

Postdoctoral training at UC Irvine School of Medicine is generally a four to five year program.  Our postdocs must possess a Ph.D., an M.D., or both, as well as a strong track record of independent research.  Persons interested in a postdoctoral position in Physiology & Biophysics should contact directly the faculty member whose research most closely matches their own interests.  For further information on projects and available postdoctoral opportunities, contact the individual faculty member.
